The Beginnning

Sarah Palin's RNC speech inspired me to take action.  I've never been demonstrative about my politics before, but this is the year I decided to settle in on the Right and be obvious.  The day after Sarah Palin's speech, I logged onto www.johnmccain.com and ordered 50 McCain/Palin stickers to wear.  My grand plan is to wearone sticker a day until the Election is over.  This blog will follow my adventure into being a politically obvious citizen.

The stickers arrived on Sept. 18, 2008.

Day one: Slapped one on my shirt and wore it around the house.  Feel a little conspicuous.  Have conversation with husband about it.  He's not wild about anyone knowing who anyone else votes for.   Took off sticker at bedtime, no need to politicize bed.  Put sticker on a piece of typing paper, will collect stickers as I wear them.  One a day until election.

Day two: Slapped a new one on before leaving the house this morning.  Dropped off oldest child at school.  Feel conspicuous.  Wore the sticker into Walmart.  No odd glares, no ugly glances.  Did encounter a man pushing his screaming daughter in the cart.  He was telling her "don't be scared! don't be scared!"  Maybe not related to sticker.  Carried daughter in front of sticker when dropping off DS2 at preschool.  Moved her to my hip, thus exposing sticker as I left.  Don't necessarily want to politicize school.  Came home.  Have more to do today and will encounter Liberal friend at playdate drop-off.  Fear that I'm a total wuss.  Will wear sticker and report back.
